Connecticut Retirement confirms $75m commitment

The US public pension has backed Homestead Capital's third US-focused farmland fund.

Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds has approved a $75 million commitment to Homestead Capital USA Farmland Fund III, a contact at the pension informed Agri Investor. The commitment was confirmed at the pension’s May 2020 investment advisory council meeting, having being initially presented to council members at the previous month’s meeting.

The $32.30 billion US public pension’s allocation to agriculture lies within its 8.50 percent alternative investment fund portfolio.

As illustrated below, Connecticut Retirement has only made one other known commitment to an agriculture fund: $20 million to Palladium Equity Partners IV in 2013.
