MassPRIM maps out 2020 timber portfolio plans

The US public pension will be investing in the asset class out of its real estate and timber portfolio.

Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board set out its 2020 timber investment plans at its February 2020 investment committee meeting, according to documents seen by Agri Investor.

MassPRIM is intending to commit up to $1.6 billion in private capital from its real estate and timber portfolio in the 2020 calendar year. It is unclear what proportion of this capital will be dedicated solely to timber investments.

The $79.08 billion US public pension has a 4.0 percent target allocation to timber which currently stands at 3.50 percent.
