NYSCRF approves $300m commitment

The US public pension has backed a North America-focused agriculture fund.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has agreed to commit $300 million to Avenue Sustainable Solutions Fund, according to the pension’s February 2020 investment report.

The fund focuses on investing in North American non-sponsored small and mid-cap companies within sectors such as agriculture and water, waste-to-value/recycling, smart cities/land use, and distributed renewables.

As illustrated below, NYSCRF’s previous commitments to agriculture funds were to 2017-vintage vehicles The Rise Fund and KKR Asian Fund III, managed by TPG and KKR respectively.
